Amboise Castle. Loire Valley. France.
The construction of the three-storey fortress with Cyclopean towers began in 1442. The kings of France and Leonardo da Vinci himself lived here. Inside is a large collection of paintings, antique furniture, various artifacts. The castle has many magnificent points with views of the Loire. The surrounding old town is also worth seeing. Here you can also have a snack after the tour in one of the small restaurants, as well as wander around the castle and along the embankment. There are many original shops with souvenirs and gifts in the adjacent street.
Not far from the castle of Amboise, there is another very interesting place in the Loire Valley. This is the small castle of Clos-Luce, where Leonardo da Vinci lived. This castle in 1516 was presented to him by Francis I. Here you can see the blueprints and models of submarines, helicopters and tanks that Da Vinci invented.
Since 1974, the Château Amboise has been kept intact by the St. Louis Foundation. This foundation also carries out restoration work in the castle. You can get to the castle by train in twenty minutes from Tours. And another twenty minutes on foot.
