Situated in the Luberon, just 50 km from Avignon, at the foot of the Monts de Vaucluse, the village of Roussillon is surrounded by beautiful countryside. It is considered one of the most impressive villages in France - Roussillon is one of the "must-sees" in the Luberon, and is well worth a walking tour.
Situated in the heart of one of the biggest ochre deposits in the world, Roussillon is famous for its magnificent red cliffs and ochre quarries. You can walk through this park admiring the nature. It takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on Your route.
The facades of the houses magnificently illustrate the result obtained by the ochres. The colors vary subtly from light yellow to flaming red, while the doors and windows are dressed in contrasting colors.
