13:10 - 13:30 Explore the German gun battery at Longues-sur-Mer, part of the Atlantic Wall, an extensive system of coastal defenses built by Nazi Germany along the coast of occupied Western Europe to repel an Allied invasion.
Stretching for approximately 1,670 miles (2,700 km), the Atlantic Wall included bunkers, gun emplacements and other fortifications. The Longues-sur-Mer battery was one of the key German coastal artillery positions defending the Normandy coastline on D-Day, June 6, 1944. Its four large naval guns were capable of targeting Allied ships approaching the landing beaches.

Our small-group D-Day tour requires a minimum of 4 participants to operate. If fewer than 4 people have booked your departure, we will contact you in advance and offer alternative dates or the option to switch to a customizable private tour for an additional charge.
The private tour includes an additional visit to Pointe du Hoc, one of Normandy’s most significant D-Day sites, and lasts approximately 14 hours.

My adult family members and I had a wonderful time on our D-Day tour with Clewel Travel. Our tour guide Anna was very knowledgeable and friendly. She took care of setting up everything for our museum and cemetery tours. Our driver, Gatis was a very safe and conscientious driver. They made our day very enjoyable and informative. Dave or your guild and Gatis our driver were great. Dave provided lots of historical facts and kept us interested and often amused. He laid the foundation at each stop to help us prioritize must sees. He was flexible with time based on our requests. Gatis added to the in car conversation with knowledge and humor. Together they made sure we saw the flag lowering ceremony at the US Cemetery. This is the highlight of the day. I recommend this tour for a small group or family. They will personalize for you.

Excellent trip. Our driver, Yuni, was terrific. One complaint I have was that we booked the small group trip but a few days before the trip we were contacted by the tour company and told “because nobody else booked the tour our only choice was to either cancel or pay 100 euros more to make it a private tour”. Since it was too late to book a different tour, I paid the surcharge. I felt like it was a bit extortive to do that to a customer at the last minute but I didn’t have any other options to see Normandy and this is likely the only time I would come to France. The price was already quite high before the surcharge. The private tour ended up being very nice though and like I said, our driver was excellent.

We took the tour as a family of 3 including a teenager and the tour company was very accommodating to our needs, picking us up and dropping us off right at our Airbnb. Our driver, Vadim, was very professional. Our tour guide, David, was very informative and shared a lot of interesting information that we would not have otherwise known. It was a lot to squeeze into a day but he made sure to maximize our experience!

We had a great time visiting Normandy! Our driver Alexander was very nice and dropped us off at each place and let us know how much time we had there. He went into each place, bought our tickets and set us up with audio guides. He was not a guide, but a driver - a very good one! Very comfortable Mercedes and we stopped for a 10 minute rest on the way there and back. Would recommend if you’re a history person looking to see all the sites in Normandy in a very easy and comfortable way.

Valerie provided exceptional education on the drive out to Normandy. Her English is excellent and she encouraged questions and provided thorough answers. We felt we gained immense knowledge and background pre DDay. She also explained through the day later events of the war in detail. Valarie also managed a difficult dynamic through the day, attempting to meet needs of the individual in a professional and kind manner. Would definitely recommend this tour. Roman our driver was also excellent.

We booked this tour over the others offered by Viator for several reasons - smaller group, private vehicle and extended length of time at several sites. Our guide, Rusty, was fantastic. On-time pickup at our hotel, comfortable Mercedes van (no big bus/big group to track) with scheduled stops, immediate access to sites, with movies where applicable, and a delicious lunch at a beautiful waterfront restaurant. We made two scheduled rest/bathroom stops along the route to/from Paris. Take this tour; it is worth the money for the reasons explained above.

Despite the rain, which really did set the stage for what we were about to experience, we had a very good day. Our very personable driver/guide, Rusty, was very knowledgeable about the events that took place during those sobering times. Lunch was provided at a very nice French restaurant in the quaint costal village of Arromanches(up to 25e each) with ample free time afterwards. It was a very long day, pickup at hotel at 7:30am and back around 9pm, but a very comfortable minivan ride. The tour company was very quick and easy to communicate with when I had questions about pickup at out hotel. I would highly recommend using them!

Our tour guide was very friendly and helpful. It made for a very long day with the drive from Paris and back, but was wonderful to see so many sites on the Normandy coast in one day. I did not realize how much was there and wish we could have had more time at each site.
