However, the most famous attraction in Chartres is Chartres Cathedral - or the Cathedral of Notre Dame Chatre. The cathedral was built at the beginning of the XIII century in the Gothic architectural style and is the hallmark of the city. In 1979 it became a UNESCO monument as a world cultural heritage site.
