07:00 Hotel Pickup and Departure to Normandy

07:00 Start your day with convenient door-to-door pickup from your hotel in Paris. Relax in a comfortable, air-conditioned Mercedes minivan or Mercedes E220 sedan as we head to Normandy. The journey to the Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer takes approximately 3.5 hours and covers around 280 km (175 miles). Along the way, we’ll make one stop at a highway rest area where you can enjoy a coffee, grab a snack or use the restroom before continuing our journey.

10:30 - 11:30 Normandy American Cemetery & Visitor Center in Colleville-sur-Mer

Visit the Normandy American Cemetery, a moving memorial overlooking Omaha Beach. This sacred site is the final resting place of 9,387 American military personnel who died during the Allied campaign in Europe, most of them during the Battle of Normandy. The Wall of the Missing commemorates another 1,557 American service members whose remains were never recovered.

Walk among the rows of white marble headstones and explore the memorial colonnade, featuring the powerful sculpture Spirit of American Youth Rising from the Waves and maps illustrating the military operations of World War II.

From the cemetery grounds, enjoy views of the coastline and remnants of German coastal defenses overlooking the D-Day landing beaches.

At the Visitor Center, discover exhibits that tell the stories of the American soldiers who fought in Normandy and explain the planning, events and human cost of the D-Day landings.

This deeply moving visit offers a moment to reflect on the courage, sacrifice and legacy of those who helped liberate Europe.

11:30 Continue to Omaha Beach, just a 10-minute drive (approximately 5 km) away.

11:40 - 12:40 Omaha Beach, the Signal Monument and Lunch Break

11:40 - 12:40 Visit Omaha Beach, one of the most significant D-Day landing sites of June 6, 1944. Learn about the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of the American troops who came ashore here under intense German fire. Approximately 34,000 American soldiers landed at Omaha Beach on D-Day, making it one of the fiercest and most challenging of the Allied landing operations.

Take time to walk along this historic beach, reflect on the events that unfolded here, and visit the Omaha Beach Signal Monument. You’ll also have free time to enjoy lunch at one of the nearby restaurants.

12:40 Continue to Pointe du Hoc, approximately a 20-minute drive (13 km) away.

13:00 - 13:40 Pointe du Hoc

Arrival at Pointe du Hoc, a prominent cliff between Utah and Omaha Beach. This point was important because it was the highest land between Omaha and Utah beaches and could thus fire upon both of them. The site was a gun battery, fortified with concrete casemates and gun pits, forming part of Hitler’s Atlantic Wall defences. Visiting the Pointe du Hoc You will learn about the 2nd Ranger battalion sacrifice to take this crucial gun battery on the cliffs of Omaha Beach on June 6th 1944. Many of the original fortifications and bunkers remain on the site and are open to the public, including the fire control casemate, on top of which there is a monument to the 2nd Ranger Battalion.

We had a fantastic tour with guide Ilya and driver Alex

We had a fantastic tour with guide Ilya and driver Alex. Ilya was passionate about history and did a great job of balancing enough history to learn, but also not bore teenagers in the process. Transportation was comfortable and safe... definitely worth the value to not drive all the way from Paris and manage all the logistics.

Normandy and Mont St Michel

Both Normandy and Mont St Michel are amazing sites to visit. Both are several hours drive from Paris. It was well worth the cost to travel in a comfortable car with a private driver. Our driver Roman was friendly and accommodating. We had plenty of time to go at our own pace. I would definitely recommend this tour.
